The Salem Frigate

A historical adventure novel set in the early years of the United States Navy, centered on the American frigate USS Essex, a warship associated with the maritime traditions of Salem, Massachusetts.

The story follows a young naval surgeon whose life becomes intertwined with the crew of the frigate and with events unfolding across distant ports. As the ship sails from New England into international waters, the narrative moves between sea voyages and land-based episodes, including encounters connected with the Barbary Wars and Mediterranean conflicts of the early nineteenth century.
