Dorothy Richardson’s Pilgrimage is a cornerstone work of 20th-century modernist literature. Published as a series of 13 interconnected "chapter-volumes" between 1915 and 1967, the work is one of the earliest sustained applications of the "stream-of-consciousness" narrative technique in English fiction.

This 1967 four-volume edition published by Alfred A. Knopf represents the first time the complete sequence was collected into a single, unified set for American readers. Notably, it marks the initial appearance of March Moonlight, the 13th and final installment of the sequence.

Told almost entirely through the tight interior perspective of its protagonist, Miriam Henderson, Pilgrimage details a young woman's path toward financial, intellectual, and personal independence in late Victorian and Edwardian England. Rather than relying on traditional dramatic plotlines, Richardson uses sensory details, internal monologue, and psychological impressionism to capture the flow of daily experience, memory, and consciousness.
Includes all 13 "chapter-volumes", including the first publication of the final volume, March Moonlight, an introduction by critic Walter Allen, and original dust jacket illustrations by Faith Jaques.
