Published in 1893 by the prominent New York house of Peter Fenelon Collier, this comprehensive ten-volume omnibus edition stands as a landmark multi-volume compilation preserving the complete literary legacy of America's definitive pioneer novelist. Rather than distributing his extensive catalog into dozens of standalone novels, this heavy, oversized reference repository compiles his legendary frontier epics, complex maritime adventures, and historical romances into a uniform collection. The expansive narrative structures gather his complete Leatherstocking Tales—including The Last of the Mohicans, The Deerslayer, and The Pathfinder—tracking the tragic landscape changes of the wild frontier through the eyes of scout Natty Bumppo, alongside his highly technical sea chronicles like The Pilot and The Red Rover. Every volume is illustrated with classic full-page wood engravings. The complete compilation serves as an indispensable historical archive of early American literature, capturing the complex cultural friction between native tribes, early pioneers, and nature during the formative eras of the republic.
